Chili Con Carne



This hearty dish is a real crowd pleaser! Great dish to serve when the weather starts getting chilly (see what I did there?) My family eats this for dinner at least once a week! 


Chili Con Carne


Preparation Time 15 minutes
Cook Time 1 hour
Yield 5 servings

Ingredients

2 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 medium onion, diced
1 lb ground beef or ground turkey
1 tablespoon onion powder
1 tablespoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon ground black pepper
1 (28 oz) can diced tomatoes
1 packet chili seasoning packet
1 can Tomatoes and Green Chilies (Rotel)
4 cloves garlic, chopped
1 (15.25 ounce) can red kidney beans, drained

Directions


  • Heat oil in a medium stockpot over medium-low heat
  • Add onion and saute until soft
  • Add ground meat and increase heat to medium-high
  • Add garlic powder, onion powder, and ground black pepper to ground meat
  • Cook until meat is browned
  • Drain excess fat
  • Add chili seasoning packet
  • Add can tomatoes and can tomatoes and chilies
  • Add chopped garlic
  • Decrease heat to medium-low and simmer 15 minutes
  • Add can beans
  • Simmer 20 minutes
  • Serve

Pairs great with cornbread or over corn chips (like Fritos)
Top with sour cream, shredded cheese, and/or jalapenos
