Welcome to A Brewed Awakening

Rock (Geology) Themed Party

A few weeks ago my son and niece celebrated turning 10 in a joint Rock (Geology not rock n roll) Themed Birthday Party. It was a lot of fun!

Food

For food, we kept it pretty simple we served

Chili Con Carne (click for recipe) on corn chips with sour cream and cheese to top

The red/brown color of the chili was a perfect match for the rock theme!

Rock Candy

The cake was a plain chocolate cake that we dug a section out of and added Candy Agate Slices (click for recipe)

Decorations

The themed colors were earthy colors, like brown, green, purple, and of course, a couple pops of gold!

We used rocks we've collected through the years and placed them throughout the party area

Toss-A-Rock

We went outside with a handful of rocks and a basket. The kids had to take 10 steps away from the basket and they had to toss the rocks into the basket. The one who got the most in the basket won!

Pinata

My mom made this great Geode pinata!

Rock Scavaging

We filled bags with dirt and added different unique rocks. Each kid picked a bad and was able to scavage through the dirt to find their rocks to take home.

Music

We made a great playlist with all the songs that had "Rock" in the title. Check it out here:

This party was all kinds of fun! The kids all had a blast! I hope this post gets your creative juices flowing for your next party!
